«coche-camaleón» Film: The Mill BLACKBIRD
«coche-camaleón» Film: The Mill BLACKBIRDPublicado el 23 jun. 2016
The Mill has created The Mill BLACKBIRD, the first fully adjustable car rig that creates photoreal CG cars – it’s a car rig that can be shot at any time, in any location, without the need to rely on a physical car. Created in collaboration with JemFX, Performance Filmworks and Keslow, Mill Blackbird inspires and expands creative opportunities, offering a truly flexible production tool without sacrificing any quality or direction. Spotted the parking lots and dirt areas to be up in Valencia. Nice I go up there also to shoot some drone footage in that park. Congrats on a great idea and product.

I don't understand the point on this? Why not just get the real car if your the manufacturer? Wouldn't the real thing be cheaper than hiring CGI artists?

This also doesn't need to only be used in car ads. It seems to be a really useful tool for vehicles in movies.

I'll be impressed it that wasn't actually the blackbird since they haven't made it yet, but rather they used a platform that mimics the blackbirds handling to make the video.

Why do we need a regular car for, then? Better invest in real re-skinning and you have all the cars you will ever need. Park it as a Ford Escort and drive it as a Veyron :)

I don't really see the meaning of this.. Isn't it just as cost-efficient to just use the real car? This thing must be even more expensive.

Maybe if you would only have to ever shoot one commercial which is unlikely. Imagine you being a Fiat/Chrysler Commercial producer and you need to make 4 separate commercials for the Viper, 500f, 300c, and the Jeep Wrangler. Instead of paying to rent those vehicles and the locations filmed, you could buy one Blackbird and use it for every commercial. Which in my opinion is cheaper in the long run.
