Nancy Camp
Nancy Camp Well duh! I think the notion that this must be proven is borne out of our species arrogance. And our disconnect arising from loving some species while killing, eating, abusing and otherwise exploiting others. How else do we justify our behavior?

Timothy Miller They're sentient beings, of course they have "feelings!" They love, experience joy, sadness, grief, anger, etc., it is only our own species arrogance and self-absorption that prevent us from realizing that. They are loyal to their families (pack) to the point of self sacrifice for their safety.

Keen Latoski Scientists have a hard time believing animals have feelings even though we know they do, yet, we're supposed to believe these same scientists are absolutely, 100% correct about man-made climate change and they shouldn't be questioned because it is science. I find these ironies just adorable, #NatGeo.

Anna Williams
Anna Williams In my experience this applies to all mammals. But we could even take it beyond that, I had two goldfish for over 17 years. When the first one died the other thrashed around the tank for 2 weeks looking for him. It was heartbreaking. And they were very different personalities too (ie their relative behaviours were different, and consistent to each fish.)

Leslie Circus I find it hard to believe those scientists have feelings. It could be that research involves doing unpleasant things and the only way they can rationalize it isn't saying dogs don't have feelings. Or are they saying dogs don't have a specific higher executive reasoning ability? Everything on the planet feels good from doing something.

Daryn Papenfuse I think the term 'feelings' is not understood by all. Sure, animals can show shame, fear, happiness, and sadness. What they cannot do, however, is understand the difference between the 4. Their 'feelings' are conditioned responses to their treatment. They cannot reason between feelings. Your inability to grasp science is not a logical arguement against it.
